Snow sessions around the world - Isabella Gomez, Utah USA

Celebrating snow fall around the world we asked our athletes to give us a snow report. Whether they are riding winter wonderlands, pristine parks, or cruising the mountain these ladies are cruising through the winter in style! Our first check-in is with our Utah based rider out in the Wasatch range, where Isabella Gomez is finding no shortage of powder this season. We got to catch up with her and see how the season has been going!

It is my first winter here in Utah and I have been thoroughly enjoying the light fluffy powder that we typically get here in the Wasatch Mountains. With storms reigning in as much as 15 inches overnight, Brighton Resort has seen one of the snowiest starts to date. Since being on my holiday break from University, I have been spending a lot of time in the mountains. During the latest storm cycle, the temperature was running warm bringing in heavier snow than usual. Thankfully, I had my Roxy Gore-Tex apparel on and was able to stay dry despite the wet conditions. With snow in the forecast, I am excited to see what the rest of the season brings!

Favorite run at Brighton?

My favorite run at Brighton is off of Milly Express. I love to ride Backbone to Devil's Dip on a pow day.

Any ‘morning hacks’ or rituals before getting set for a day of pow?

Wakeup call on a pow day is usually pretty early so I try and get everything packed and ready to go the night before. I like to start my morning with a cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito, it's important to get fueled up for a long day of riding!

Go-to layers and/or what’s in your backpack as she heads up to the resort?

Through trial and error, I've learned that it is important to wear the right layers on a pow day to stay warm. My first layer is usually the matching top and bottom Daybreak Base Layers. I like to follow it up with the Coast Road Puffy and a nice warm beanie. This year I have been wearing the Meade Insulated Snow Jacket in red and typically pair it with a pair of black Wood Rose snow pants. I am happy to say that with this setup I have been staying warm and dry all winter :).

What drew you to Utah / the Wasatch in the first place?

Growing up, I had always heard about the amazing terrain in the Wasatch Mountains and the wonderful community of female snowboarders living in Salt Lake City. When I got accepted into the Environmental Studies program at Westminster College, I knew I had to move out to Utah so I could pursue an academic and snowboarding career.

Isabella is wearing:

GORE-TEX® Fizz Snowboard/Ski Mittens

Stay tuned for the adventures of our Canadian rider Billy Pelchat getting her first snowboarding experience out in Japan and hanging out in Tokyo.
